International Communities Organisation (ICO) calls on the United Nation (UN) member states to maintain international peace and security and guard the UN Charter, which ‘prohibits the use of force against the territorial integrity of another state or political independence of any state’ (Article 2(4)).
The full-scale military attacks launched against Ukraine on the 24th February 2022 is a violation of United Nations Charter, international law, and an act of aggression that is a crime under international law and causes a humanitarian crisis on local, regional and global scale.
We urge all parties to protect civilian lives, and renounce from arbitrary attacks threatening civilian lives, livelihoods and infrastructure, and triggering food, water and energy shortages and causing mass displacement.
ICO, particularly, urges all parties to adhere strictly to international human rights law and the UN Charter, which prevents forcible appropriation of land and change of borders by force.
