ICOÂ engages with states and civil society to promote the adherence to the human rights standards enshrined in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR). We stimulate local development by supporting businesses and engaging in large infrastructure projects in order to meet the international benchmarks in education, work, health, and adequate standards of living.
Through the expertise of our member organisations, ICO engages in consultancy, expert visits, training on human rights, leadership and sustainable development. Our evidence documentation team works on the ground to gather data to create reports to the United Nations Human Rights Committees that monitor the implementation of the ICCPR and the ICESCR. We believe these measures will fulfil our vision of having empowered communities all over the world.
ICOÂ Strategies
- Encourage the State Parties of the ICCPR and ICESCR to fulfil their responsibilities by assisting the realisation of international standards e.g by helping to plan its feasibility and practicability.
- Inspire adult and youth education through participative and empowering training methodologies on human rights and development.
- Run consultancy services with state and civil society representatives.
