Minorities and indigenous peoples often find themselves marginalised in terms of economic opportunities and social standing. They are also more vulnerable when it comes to political upheavals, natural disasters, or events to a country. The international community acknowledges the vulnerabilities and special needs of minorities, and have accorded them protections that should be respected by all.
